Young girls are so often told they are "pretty" - attaching all of their self-worth to their appearance. Former editorial model B.C. Hatch confronts this reality with her first picture book, Beyond Pretty, which lists 26 empowering words in praise of all of girls' strengths.

As a former editorial model in New York, Milan and Paris, as well as America’s Next Top Model (cycle 8) contestant, B.C. Hatch is no stranger to people only focusing on her looks and disregarding everything else.

After becoming a mother and raising her little girl on her own, Hatch’s mission became clear, she wanted to encourage her daughter and other girls to embrace who they are rather than how they look.

As a published writer and poet B.C., decided the best way to deliver her message was to venture into children's literature—often where the internalizing of cultural norms begins. Thus "Beyond Pretty" was born, a book that will become a tool for her daughter and girls everywhere, to help empower them on their journey of self-discovery.
